Govt accepts Rs 5 billion grant from Finland and Norway govts for School Education Sector Projects

    KATHMANDU: Nepal government is going to accept 5 billion 110 million grant from Finland and Norway government for school education sector projects. Out of the subsidy, approximately Rs. 2.54 billion will be received from the Finnish government and approximately Rs. 2.57 billion from the Norwegian government.

    According to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the cabinet meeting on Tuesday decided to give permission for the clinical trial of the polio virus vaccine. It has been decided to approve the implementation of the revised Nepal Public Sector Accounting Standard for financial reporting based on the cash accounting system of the Government of Nepal, provincial governments, and local levels.

    The meeting has decided to appoint Jitendra Dhital (Gorkha) as the administrator of the Employees Provident Fund. In a press conference held today by the Government of Nepal at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, it was informed that the decision to publish a notice in the gazette prohibiting strikes in essential services for public interest was given.

    The government has also decided to appoint officials to acquire land for Kimathangka Arun Hydropower, Dhauwadi-Meghauli 132 KV Transmission Project, Lekhnath-Damauli 220 KV Transmission Project, and Masryangdi Hydropower Station. The meeting has decided to allow the use of the national forest area for the construction of Seti river hydroelectric project, 220 kV transmission line of the Tanahun hydroelectric project, Taksar Pikhuwa river hydroelectric project.

    Similarly, it has been decided to allow the use of the national forest area for Dudh Pokhari Chepe, Upper Ankhukhola, Mewa Khola, Super Chepe hydropower project, and Jalpadevi Kewalkar project. The government has approved the delegation led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security Ek Narayan Aryal to participate in the 17th Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting to be held in Singapore. The meeting has given its approval to make regulations related to the Taragaon Development Committee and regulations related to staff service, conditions, and facilities of the Lumbini Development Fund.
