KATHMANDU: A two-day workshop on action research of teachers teaching health and physical education in various campuses of Nepal has been completed. Two Days University Teachers’ Training and Workshop completed on ESD, NCD, and Lifestyle on Children’s Health, Lifestyle, and Physical Activity in Southeast and South Asia.
The workshop was held here on Wednesday as a joint project of various Japanese universities, Tribhuvan University, and the Health Education Association of Nepal (HEAN).
Professor Kokudo of Chukyo University in Japan gave training on how to effectively teach these subjects in the workshop on Education Sustainable Development (ECD), Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), and Lifestyle.
Professor Kokudo trained in ‘Direct Study’, ‘ECD, NCD and Lifestyle’, ‘Student Height and Weight Measurement’, ‘Worksheet Preparation and Use’, ‘Student Height and Weight Measurement Practice’, ‘Mock Room, Micro Teaching’. had done
Professor Kokudo stated that non-communicable diseases kill more than communicable diseases every year (71 percent) i.e. 57 million patients in the world and emphasized the need to improve people’s health and modify their daily lifestyles.
He said that if the body mass index (BMI) of every student can be balanced by paying special attention to food, the risk of death can be reduced.
In the workshop held in the presence of Professor Sagawa of Kanagawa University, Prof. Dr. Bhimsen Devkota emphasized that teachers and professors can play an important role in reducing the death rate in the field of public health by paying attention to small things.
Yaduram Upreti, a member of HEAN and Deputy Professor of TU, played the role of facilitator of the workshop while shedding light on the various activities of subtle yoga and meditation.
Earlier, while inaugurating the workshop on Tuesday, Dean of the Faculty of Education of Tribhuvan University Prof. Dr. Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki instructed the teachers to use the experience of the workshop in teaching. In the workshop, Prof. Dr. Lokendra Sherchan and others expressed their opinion.
