Kathmandu Metropolitan City Halts Education Fair Organized by HISSAN

EDUCAST, The Kathmandu Metropolitan City took decisive action on Thursday, putting an end to an education fair organized by the Higher Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (HISSAN) at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall. The metropolitan city’s education department, in collaboration with the city police, intervened and dismantled stalls belonging to various educational institutions.

According to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Chief Raju Nath Pandey, the fair was conducted by HISSAN without the necessary authorization from the city. “They did not have official permission to hold the fair,” stated Pandey, highlighting the unauthorized nature of the event.

The education fair primarily targeted students who had recently completed their Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and the 10+2 program. Over 75 educational institutions had enthusiastically participated in the fair, which was originally scheduled to conclude on Sunday. The event was inaugurated by Dev Raj Ghimire, the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The metropolitan city’s proactive stance in halting the unauthorized education fair serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to proper legal procedures and ensuring fair opportunities for all stakeholders in the education sector.

The metropolis further justified its intervention by claiming that the fair was held prematurely, prior to the release of examination results. It emphasized that conducting such an event before the announcement of results was in violation of legal protocols.
