EDUCAST, The 5th Annual General Meeting and Convention of the Association of Australian Education Representatives in Nepal (AAERI Nepal) was held with great enthusiasm at the prestigious Kathmandu Marriott Hotel on August 15, 2023. The event commenced with a warm welcome to esteemed guests, accompanied by the resonating national anthems of Nepal and Australia.
A significant highlight of the program was the informative presentation delivered by Mr. Mahesh Babu Timalsina, President of AAERI Nepal. He emphasized on the organization’s commitment to nurturing educational excellence and creating opportunities for Nepalese students to experience world-class education.
Ms. Nishi Borra, President of AAERI India, virtually addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of cross-border educational partnerships. The event gained further international perspective through the virtual address by Mr. Mathew Johnston, Minister Counsellor (Education & Research) from the Department of Education. He focused on the significance of educational diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations.
A notable highlight of the event was the engaging panel discussion on the profound impact of Australian education on the Nepalese economy and the strategies to navigate future pathways. Moderated by Mr. Dwiraj Sharma, Founder President of AAERI Nepal, the discussion featured accomplished Australian graduates who have translated their education into successful careers on Nepalese soil. Their stories served as inspiring testaments to the value of international education.
The panel featured experts such as Mr. Ujjwal Shrestha, Panchakanya Group’s Executive Director; Ms. Sambridhi Gyawali, Nepal Republic Media’s representative; Mr. Ananta Poudyal, ANAA’s President and NABIL Bank’s Director; and Mr. Khem Lakai, Founder and CEO of GATE College. They deliberated on student pathways and the substantial influence of Australian education on Nepal’s economy.
The event also hosted Mr. Anil Keshary Shah, a distinguished guest speaker who eloquently spoke about the global relevance of education and the transformative power of exposure to diverse perspectives. He also emphasized on the importance of a well-rounded education in today’s interconnected world.
A significant presence was felt through the gracious address by H.E. Felicity Volk, the Australian Ambassador to Nepal, who honored the event as the Chief Guest. Her remarks reflected the mutual commitment of Nepal and Australia to furthering educational exchanges.
At last, Mr. Buddhi Sagar Aryal, Vice President of AAERI Nepal, extended a heartfelt note of appreciation to all participants and collaborators. A symbolic moment arrived with the distribution of tokens of recognition and certificates to the new members, a testament to their entry into the dynamic AAERI Nepal community.
