EDUCAST, In a promising development for Nepali students, Softed Group, in partnership with the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN), has announced a scholarship initiative set to benefit 50 talented individuals. The joint endeavor was formally unveiled during a press conference held on Tuesday, where both organizations inked an agreement to facilitate this transformative opportunity.
Under ECAN’s “Study in Nepal” campaign, the agreement to provide scholarships to 50 students in collaboration with the Department of Social Responsibility was signed by ECAN President Seshraj Bhattarai and Soft Group President Bigyan Shrestha.
Bigyan Shrestha, Chairman of Softed Group, expressed his optimism regarding ECAN’s “Study in Nepal” campaign’s potential to inspire Nepali youth to pursue education within the country. He passionately encouraged students to consider studying in Nepal, emphasizing the critical need to connect the next generation to the realm of information technology. Shrestha underscored the significance of technology in strengthening ample employment opportunities, enabling Nepali graduates to not only study locally but also contribute on a global scale.
Under this mutually beneficial collaboration, President Shrestha shared his delight in offering scholarships to students through Sunway College, an institution under the Softed Group umbrella. As per the agreement, scholarships will be awarded for information technology disciplines during the November 2023 and March 2024 sessions.
According to the agreement, the college will provide scholarships to undergraduate students for the B.Sc. Honors Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence course. Under this course, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Programming, Software Engineering, Innovation and one year dedicated Professional Placement are also included.
The scholarship program, as outlined in the agreement, comprises full scholarships for two individuals and partial scholarships for 48 recipients. Among the partial scholarship recipients, ten students will receive a 50% scholarship, while the remaining 38 will be awarded a 30% scholarship.
The eligibility criteria for the scholarships are defined as follows: candidates aiming for a full scholarship must attain a GPA of 3.60 in their +2 examinations. For the 50% scholarship, a GPA of 3.50 in +2 and 3.00 GPA are requisite, and those aspiring to secure a 30% scholarship must maintain a 3.00 GPA.
Additionally, applicants seeking this educational opportunity must score a minimum of 5.5 in the IELTS examination. ECAN President Bhattarai mentioned that further scholarship criteria will be detailed by ECAN.
