EDUCAST, The Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education (GATE College), located in Mandikhatar, Kathmandu, celebrated a significant milestone as it recently concluded its thirteenth convocation ceremony. Over the past fifteen years, Gate College has been at the forefront of providing world-class hotel management and hospitality education in Nepal.
Since its inception, Gate College has been delivering top-notch hotel management and hospitality education accredited by the Swiss Hotel Association at the BHMM level. Today, it proudly continues its educational programs as a member institution of Switzerland’s renowned EHL (École hôtelière de Lausanne). Additionally, Gate College offers hotel management and hospitality education at the BHM level in collaboration with Kathmandu University.
Gate College proudly reports that approximately 1400 students have graduated from its international-level BHM program and are now thriving in the tourism and hospitality industry, including prestigious hotels and restaurants both in Nepal and across the globe.
The thirteenth convocation ceremony saw esteemed guests in attendance, with Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Dr. Danielle Meuwly, the Resident Representative of the United Nations for Nepal, Madam Hanna Singer-Hamdy, and Hotel Yak & Yeti’s General Manager, Monika Scheiblauer, serving as keynote speakers and chief guests.
Swiss Ambassador Dr. Danielle Meuwly commended the enduring relationship between Nepal and Switzerland, emphasizing the pivotal role of Gate College in strengthening this bond through its provision of Switzerland’s world-renowned hotel management and tourism education in Nepal.
Madam Hanna Singer-Hamdy, the UN Resident Representative for Nepal, highlighted the country’s unique natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, underscoring the immense potential for tourism promotion in Nepal. She stressed the importance of developing skilled manpower to harness this potential.
Monika Scheiblauer, General Manager of Hotel Yak & Yeti, expressed optimism about the growing opportunities for international chain hotels to establish a presence in Nepal, given the recent advancements in the hospitality sector.
Aman Aditya Sachdev, representing EHL Advisory Office India, acknowledged Gate College as an esteemed member institution of EHL that consistently provides international-level hotel management and hospitality education in Nepal.
Gate College Founder and CEO, Khem Lakai, along with Dean Dr. Jiwak Raj Bajracharya, illuminated the college’s academic achievements, while Prof. Peter Jones, Head of GATE Academic Council, delivered a compelling message via video, emphasizing the significance of hospitality education in today’s competitive world.
