1.Alena,Welcome to Nepal, a land of mountains and Himalayas. Could you tell us about your visit to Nepal this time?
Alena: Thank you for having me in Nepal. It’s my first time here, and I’m excited to explore this beautiful country. Our main purpose for visiting is to better understand the local market, conduct market analysis, and support our educational partners. We want to connect with students and our representatives in Nepal.
2.Tharsha, you’ve been actively involved in South Asia, especially with Nepal. Could you share your experiences in this region?
Tharsha : I started working with Niagara College back in 2022, and my journey with the Nepalese market began in the same year. It has been an incredible journey, and Niagara College is gaining popularity in Nepal. This is my fourth visit to Nepal, and I’ve always been warmly welcomed. Our college not only provides education but also focuses on the overall experience students have in Canada. We are proud of the support and hospitality we offer to our students.
3. Alena, why should international students choose Canada for their higher education?
Alena: I have a personal connection to this question, as I was once an international student myself, having come to Canada 11 years ago. My husband is also originally from India. Canada is known for its diversity, and this diversity is reflected in its student population. You’ll find students from all around the world, not just from Nepal. What’s remarkable about Canada is the opportunity it provides. Education is a pathway to success, and it’s especially appealing because graduates can obtain up to three years of work permits. Toronto, where our college is located, offers a multitude of job opportunities, making it a great choice for students.
4. Tharsha, Tell us more about Niagara College Toronto and its unique selling points?
Tharsha: Niagara College Toronto has several unique selling points. Firstly, our location in downtown Toronto is advantageous, as it’s a hub for employers. Most of our programs are designed to make students job-ready, so they learn what employers expect. We also have strong connections with employers through on-campus career fairs, where students can learn how to interact with Canadian employers, prepare their CVs, and enhance their LinkedIn profiles. Additionally, we’re in the process of creating a Nepalese student club to cater to the growing Nepalese student population. We believe in providing a supportive and enriching experience for our students.
5. Can you tell us about the popular courses at Niagara College Toronto and their highlights?
Tharsha: Niagara College Toronto offers a range of programs, including undergraduate and postgraduate options. Some of our popular programs in Nepal include Computer Programming, Business Sales and Marketing, Business General, Business Accounting, International Business Management, Human Resource Management, and Hospitality and Tourism Management. The Computer Programming program is particularly sought after, as it aligns with industry needs. Our postgraduate programs, such as Human Resource Management, provide students with an opportunity to work in their field while studying. We also have 120 hours of co-op work permits for many programs, allowing students to gain real-world experience.
6. Alena, how is Niagara College Toronto supportive of international students, and what kind of activities and services are available to familiarize them with the Canadian experience?
Alena: Niagara College Toronto is committed to providing excellent support to international students. We value our partnerships with educational agents and offer quick document processing, usually within three days. We encourage students to ask questions, as there are no silly questions when you’re planning your future in a new country. We’re accessible through various channels, including WhatsApp, and we plan to conduct pre-departure sessions in Nepal in the near future. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics, from essential documents to cultural adaptation. Networking is crucial, and we are here to help students make the most of their Canadian experience.
7. Tharsha, one of the common questions from prospective students and parents is about scholarships and financial opportunities. What scholarships and financial support does Niagara College Toronto offer?
Tharsha: Niagara College Toronto provides a regional scholarship for Nepalese students. Students with a Nepalese passport are eligible for this scholarship, which amounts to $3,000. Upon application, students receive an initial $1,500 scholarship, and upon achieving 80% attendance in their classes, they receive the remaining $1,500. Students who pay the full-year tuition fee upfront also receive an additional $500 scholarship, totaling $3,500 in scholarships. We also offer an application fee waiver for students applying from our region, ensuring that they don’t have to pay any application fees.
