EDUCAST, The Educational Professional Consultancy Association Nepal (EPCAN) marked a significant milestone with the successful completion of its first general meeting at Shankar Hotel in the capital.
Key figures in the education sector, the Chief Accountant and Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Suresh Adhikari, addressed the gathering. Adhikari emphasized the vital role of educational consultancy in the education sector but urged the need to discourage illegal activities under the guise of consultancy. He emphasized the importance of sending students to universities and colleges where their future is secure.
Adhikari revealed ongoing efforts to draft the Higher Education Act, pledging to involve consultants in the discussion to formulate effective policies. Addressing the legal complexity surrounding the role of unions and the state in consultancy, he highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to simplifying study abroad permit issues and streamlining the process of listing foreign universities.
Bholanath Pokhrel, Vice President of Special Hospitality and Professional Federation of Nepal, acknowledged EPCAN’s rapid success and extended his best wishes. He stressed the challenges faced by consultancy professionals and the need for the state’s attention, given the evolving landscape of international relations.
Renowned Nepali cinema superstar, Ramesh Upreti, recognized the contribution of consultancy businesses to the nation and conveyed his best wishes for the success of EPCAN’s first general meeting.
President of Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN), Sesharaj Bhattarai, expressed optimism about the government’s positive stance on consultants. He called for unity among professionals, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for the federation’s maintenance.
A new working committee was unanimously elected during EPCAN’S first general assembly. The 11-members committee, chosen in the inaugural session, is set to lead EPCAN under the capable guidance of President Prajwal Basnet.
The newly elected Vice Presidents are Hemantraj Dulal and Arjun Kumar Basnet, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the committee. Anil Sharma Poudel, Amit Khadka, and Deepa Lamichhane have been appointed as the General Secretary, Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively, garnering unanimous support from the assembly.
Additionally, the committee includes prominent members such as Shankar Phuyal, Santosh Basnet, Madan Upreti, Prajwal Khatri, and Naresh Sedhain. Their election signifies a collective commitment to steering EPCAN towards greater success and prominence within the educational consultancy landscape.
