EDUCAST, In a prestigious ceremony held at the Nepal Tourism Board’s hall, the Eighteenth National Education Awards-2080 recognized the remarkable contributions of 55 individuals and institutions in the field of education. Education journalists Sunil Acharya and Parwata Chaudhary were among the recipients, awarded the esteemed Education Journalism Award for their outstanding work in advancing educational discourse. Sponsored by Shikshalaya Masik, the ceremony also celebrated the efforts of educators, administrators, and organizations dedicated to nurturing academic excellence.
Sunil Acharya, Educational Journalist, representing Jupiter Media, was acknowledged for his unparalleled dedication to enhancing the educational sector both nationally and internationally since two decades. Parwata Chaudhary, from Radio Kantipur, was lauded for her decade-long commitment to nurturing young minds and promoting academic prowess.
The event attracted esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh, former vice chancellor of Midwest University; Tara Kumari Kazi Mahato, Chief of Madi Municipality in Chitwan; Dr. Kamal Pokhrel, Administrative Head of the Teacher Service Commission; Anil Kumar Jha, Managing Director of Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra; Geeta Rana, Founder of Galaxy Public School; Indira Yakthunga, Founder of Gyanodaya Balbabatika; Purna Bahadur Gautam, Principal of Melamchi-Ghyang Secondary School in Sindhupalchok; Dr. Janu’s Nepal, Principal of Neel Barahi Secondary School in Kathmandu; and Rajendra Prasad Dhimal, representative of Prithwi Secondary Boarding School. Their presence added to the event’s prestige and celebrated the diverse range of contributors in the field of education.Institutions like NCCS College, St. Lawrence College Chabahil, and Prime College Khusibu were among those honored for their outstanding contributions.
To determine the recipients of honors and awards, a jury was assembled comprising Education Ministry Deputy Secretary Geha Nath Gautam, Education Journalist Prakash Silwal, Activist BK Shrestha, and Educators Dipika Thapa and Ramhari Silwal.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, emphasized the paramount importance of the education sector in national development. He stressed the need for continual investment in physical infrastructure, technological advancements, and curriculum modernization. Shrestha proposed the inclusion of yoga and meditation practices in schools to enrich the educational experience.
Prakash Silwal, coordinator of the judging committee, highlighted the rigorous selection process aimed at recognizing and energizing individuals and organizations driving progress in education. Shyam Tandukar, Editor-in-Chief of Shikshalay Masik, reiterated the significance of annual honoring programs in fostering a culture of appreciation for educationalists.
The ceremony, facilitated by communicator Dinesh D.C., underscored the collective effort required to elevate the education sector and pave the way for societal development.
