EDUCAST, The Nepal Applied Mathematics and Informatics Institute (NAAMII) has announced that it will host South Asia’s largest AI education program, the Annual Nepal AI School (ANAIS), from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025. This fifth edition of the event will focus on the fundamentals and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to NAAMII, ANAIS will cover topics ranging from basic principles to advanced methods and applications of AI. The 11-day event, to be held at Premier International School in Khumaltar, Lalitpur, is expected to attract over 200 participants, including undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students, as well as AI professionals from Nepal and abroad.

The program will feature 25 international scientists and professors delivering lectures and workshops focused on three major areas—Geometric Deep Learning, Foundational Models and Applications, and Modern Practices.

ANAIS Director and research scientist Bishesh Khanal emphasized that this event offers a rare opportunity for participants in South Asia to learn and interact with international experts. Khanal stated, “With Nepal working towards policies and plans to adopt AI technologies, this program will help foster essential discussions and build expertise in the AI field.”

Education Outreach Head Alok Khatri added that ANAIS is not only about education but also about providing participants with opportunities to network with global experts, expand professional connections, and gain hands-on experience through practical workshops.

The event is supported by partners including F1Soft, eSewa, Fonepay, UK International Development, Asia Foundation, and Data for Development in Nepal. Additional sponsors include Young Innovations, SecurityPal, Google, and Fusemachines.

In the past four editions, more than 550 students from over 40 countries have participated in ANAIS. This year, the program aims to introduce Nepalese and international students to cutting-edge advancements in AI development and research.
