EDUCAST, The Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) successfully concluded its 19th Annual General Assembly with grandeur. The event was held on Saturday at the Marriott Hotel in Naxal, Kathmandu.

During the opening session, ECAN President Sheshraj Bhattarai emphasized the need for the upcoming Education Act to positively address the educational consultancy sector. He further highlighted the importance of establishing distinct acts and regulations for organizations that serve as guides in the realm of foreign education. Bhattarai also questioned the government’s inconsistent approach toward the consultancy sector.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, attended the event as the chief guest. He expressed concern over the growing trend of students prioritizing earning opportunities over education abroad. Speaker Ghimire remarked, “It is unfortunate that students often perceive education as a means of income rather than a path to knowledge. ECAN has been playing a crucial role in guiding students about which countries and universities are most suitable for acquiring practical education. This education, once completed, can contribute to the advancement of Nepalese society and national interests. Students can set an example and become assets upon returning to Nepal.”

Similarly, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, pledged his commitment to supporting policies and laws that facilitate the enrollment of international students in Nepalese educational institutions. He assured that the government remains proactive in creating an environment conducive to attracting foreign students.

In the concluding session, the Central President of the Nepal Educational Consultancy Entrepreneurs’ Federation, Rajendra Baral, urged consultancy firms and professionals not to fear the Higher Education Act. He explained that the earlier concerns and apprehensions regarding the act have now been alleviated.

The 19th Annual General Assembly of ECAN featured Speaker Devraj Ghimire as the chief guest and Minister Badri Prasad Pandey as the special guest, alongside other dignitaries.
