EDUCAST, In a recent courtesy meeting, Nepal’s Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Bidhya Bhattarai, and the British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, discussed enhancing bilateral educational cooperation. Minister Bhattarai acknowledged the challenges faced by Nepali students who have studied in the UK, particularly regarding the equivalence certification process with Tribhuvan University. She assured that her ministry would actively engage with university officials to address these issues.
Ambassador Fenn expressed the UK government’s interest in supporting Nepal’s education sector. He highlighted concerns about the complexities Nepali graduates encounter when seeking equivalence for their UK qualifications and emphasized the importance of providing quality education to Nepal’s productive workforce, aiming to make them more employable and ensuring the diaspora’s contribution to Nepal’s economy.
This meeting underscores the longstanding educational ties between Nepal and the United Kingdom. Historically, the UK has been a significant partner in Nepal’s educational development, offering scholarships and technical assistance since the 1950s. The British Council in Nepal has also played a pivotal role in fostering cultural and educational exchanges between the two nations.
The discussions between Minister Bhattarai and Ambassador Fenn are expected to further strengthen the educational collaboration between Nepal and the UK, addressing current challenges and exploring new avenues for mutual benefit.
