EDUCAST, The grand event marking the 11th anniversary of the Federation of Community School Management Committees was successfully concluded, during which seven schools from seven provinces were honored as part of the national campaign, “We Improve Our Schools.”
Continuing the tradition of recognizing outstanding schools from each province, this year’s event reinforced the Federation’s commitment to enhancing schools across all 77 districts in Nepal. The Federation emphasized that the responsibility of improving policies, systems, culture, and governance lies with the citizens themselves and called for active participation in improving community schools.
The Federation of Community School Management Committees was established on Chaitra 18, 2070 (April 1, 2014). So far, conferences have been conducted in four provinces, with three more still pending. The Federation has been actively working on various educational reform campaigns.
The program’s chief guest was Hon. Amar Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee. He reaffirmed the government’s full commitment to improving community schools.
Hon. Jeevan Pariyar, a member of the House of Representatives, attended as a special guest. He emphasized the need to increase investment in education to meet the demands of the present time.
Other distinguished guests included education experts Dr. Mahashram Sharma and Dr. Amina Singh, former Chairperson of the Teachers’ Federation Kamala Tuladhar, and Chairperson of the Parents’ Federation Shubhaprabhat Bhandari. Dr. Sharma highlighted the need to enhance teachers’ effectiveness in improving community schools, while Dr. Singh emphasized the integration of technology in education. Kamala Tuladhar stressed the importance of teachers’ participation in policy-making for school reforms, and Shubhaprabhat Bhandari noted that active parental involvement is the key to school improvement.
The Federation aims to expand this campaign and honor more schools in the coming years, further strengthening the movement for community school improvement.
