EDUCAST, In an exclusive interview with Destination Australia Show, Dr. Binod Atreya, a prominent figure in Nepal’s banking sector, shared his thoughts on being named the top nominee in the prestigious Alumni Awards – Lifetime Achievement category by the University of Victoria. These awards honor exceptional individuals who have made substantial contributions to various fields following their education at the institution.
Dr. Atreya currently serves as the Managing Director of the Banking, Finance, and Insurance Institute of Nepal (BFIN), a position he holds with great distinction. Under his visionary leadership, BFIN has emerged as a leading institution dedicated to enhancing Nepal’s financial sector’s capabilities. This achievement is the result of Dr. Atreya’s collaborative efforts with a wide array of financial institutions, including commercial banks, development banks, and micro-credit organizations.
Prior to his role at BFIN, Dr. Atreya served as the CEO of Emerging Nepal Limited and held key executive positions in numerous insurance and finance companies. With over three decades of experience in the banking sector, he has showcased his expertise in areas such as banking and finance regulation, corporate planning, and financial inclusion during his distinguished career with the Nepal Rastra Bank.
Dr. Atreya’s contributions extend beyond the borders of Nepal. He has collaborated with renowned organizations like UNDP and worked on various projects in countries such as the Maldives, Marshall Islands, and Palau. Additionally, his scholarly contributions are recognized globally, with publications in prestigious journals further solidifying his status as an eminent figure in the field.
