Namaste and a very warm welcome to Destination Canada, a special television series proudly brought to you by News24 Television. I’m your regular host, Sunil Acharya, and it’s always a pleasure to connect with you as we continue our mission to inform and inspire students across Nepal about higher education opportunities in Canada.

Through this show, we delve into everything from university profiles and expert interviews to educational trends and career outcomes. We aim to help students make informed decisions about their international education journey. Whether it’s through on-location coverage of Canadian institutions or insightful discussions right here in our studio, we are committed to offering authentic and up-to-date content for aspiring students and their families.

Today, we are excited to shine a spotlight on one of Canada’s emerging educational institutions — the University of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF). Despite being a young university, it has already made a significant impact among international students due to its innovative programmes, strong academic values, and focus on digital integration. To share more insights about the university and its offerings, we are honoured to be joined by a very special guest — Mr. Sanjay Madabushi, the Associate Director international business development at the University of Niagara Falls Canada.

Sanjay, welcome to Destination Canada. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us in Nepal.

    Sanjay Madabushi:
Thank you so much, Sunil. It’s truly an honour to be here and I appreciate the warm welcome. I’m very happy to be in Nepal again, the land of the Himalayas, and this time, my visit has been especially meaningful. I’ve had the opportunity to interact with several education partners, counsellors, and aspiring students across Kathmandu. The enthusiasm and warmth of the Nepalese education community have been truly energizing.

Despite the recent shifts in Canadian immigration and study policies, I believe these changes are actually bringing a positive momentum. The new framework is focused on encouraging genuine students who are sincerely looking to pursue quality education and build a meaningful life and career in Canada. During my visit, I’ve sensed a strong optimism in the Nepalese student market, and I’m confident that we’re moving toward a future full of opportunity and collaboration.

    Sunil Acharya:
That’s wonderful to hear, Sanjay. Let’s begin by talking about your role. You’re involved in international recruitment and business development for UNF. Many students in Nepal are highly motivated to study in Canada. Could you explain what makes the Canadian education system unique and attractive?

    Sanjay Madabushi:
Absolutely, Sunil. Canada stands out globally not just for the quality of education it offers, but also for its inclusive policies and multicultural environment. It’s one of the few countries that not only welcomes international students but also encourages them to become long-term contributors to its economy and society.

In Canada, the pathway from education to employment to permanent residency is very well-structured. Students are not only investing in a degree; they’re investing in a future where they can work, gain international experience, and even choose to settle. For students from Nepal, who are seeking long-term growth, Canada offers a wholesome, secure, and rewarding environment.

    Sunil Acharya:
That’s very insightful. Let’s now focus on the University of Niagara Falls Canada. Even though it’s a relatively young institution, it’s becoming quite popular. Could you walk us through its legacy, vision, and academic offerings?

    Sanjay Madabushi:
Certainly. The University of Niagara Falls Canada is proud to be Canada’s youngest university. We officially began operations in late 2023 and have since welcomed students from all over the globe. Despite our recent establishment, we’ve already grown to accommodate over 2,000 students on campus, which speaks volumes about the trust and excitement the university has generated.

One of our core strengths is diversity. Our student body is a rich blend of cultures from South Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. This diversity not only enhances the classroom experience but also reflects the university’s global outlook. At UNF, we believe that education must be immersive and inclusive, which is why we strive to create a dynamic learning environment where students feel a sense of belonging.

Academically, we offer a well-rounded portfolio of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the bachelor’s level, we currently offer degrees in Business Administration and Biomedical Sciences. The Biomedical Sciences programme is especially notable, as it is one of the few of its kind available in Canada and meets the rising global demand for health science professionals.

At the postgraduate level, we offer Master’s degrees in three key areas: Management, Data Analytics, and Digital Media and Global Communications. All of these programmes are designed with a digital-first mindset, aligning with our identity as a technology-driven university. No matter the subject — business, media, or health — our curriculum integrates digital tools, emerging technologies, and practical application, which helps prepare students for the demands of the modern workforce.

    Sunil Acharya:
That’s impressive, especially your emphasis on digital integration. Let’s now talk about career outcomes. How does UNF support students in translating their education into real-world careers?

    Sanjay Madabushi:
We believe that education must be both aspirational and applicable. At UNF, we ensure that our programmes are designed not only to deliver theoretical knowledge but also to foster real-world skills and experiences.

Take, for example, our Master of Data Analytics programme. It includes a built-in co-op or internship component. In fact, students receive a Confirmation of Employment letter along with their admission documents, which is a testament to our industry partnerships. These collaborations span both national and multinational companies across Canada, ensuring that students are placed in professional environments aligned with their field of study.

Our Career Services team works actively with students from day one — guiding them on resume building, interview preparation, networking, and helping them access job portals and employer events. Moreover, with over 2 million job vacancies in Canada — and over 650,000 in the tech and health sectors alone — the opportunity landscape is incredibly promising for our graduates.

    Sunil Acharya:
That’s encouraging, especially for students looking at long-term prospects. Now let’s discuss the presence of Nepalese students at UNC. How are they adapting to the campus environment, and what support is available to help them succeed?

    Sanjay Madabushi:
We’re very proud of the Nepalese students on our campus. In the past two years, their numbers have grown significantly. They’ve enrolled across various programmes and are performing exceptionally well, both academically and socially.

Our Nepalese students are known for their dedication, strong English communication, and adaptability — qualities that help them secure part-time jobs, integrate with diverse groups, and contribute actively to student life.

At the university, we offer a variety of support services tailored to international students — from orientation and academic advising to mental health counselling and community-building events. The goal is to ensure that every student not only succeeds academically but also feels at home.

    Sunil Acharya:
That’s really inspiring, Sanjay. It’s heartening to know that Nepalese students are excelling and that institutions like the University of Niagara Falls are offering such a nurturing and opportunity-rich environment.

Before we wrap up, do you have any message for the students and parents watching this programme?

    Sanjay Madabushi:
Absolutely. I want to say to all the students in Nepal — your dreams of studying in Canada are valid, and achievable. The key lies in choosing the right institution, the right course, and preparing yourself with the right mindset. The University of Niagara Falls Canada is here to support that dream. We are not just offering degrees; we’re offering a journey — one that combines education, career, and community.

To parents, I say — you can be confident that your child will be safe, supported, and empowered in Canada, especially at UNF. We value the trust you place in us and will ensure your child receives a world-class education and life experience.

    Sunil Acharya:
Thank you so much, Sanjay, for joining us today and sharing such valuable insights. We wish you continued success in your work, and we hope more students from Nepal explore the exciting opportunities at the University of Niagara Falls Canada.

To our viewers, thank you for being with us. Stay tuned to Destination Canada as we continue to bring you updates on global education opportunities. Until next time, take care and Namaste!
