EDUCAST, Greenzo Energy India Limited has expressed interest in investing in Nepal’s green hydrogen production campaign, signaling a potential partnership aimed at transforming the country’s energy landscape. In a meeting with Nepal’s Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Shakti Basnet, Sandeep Agarwal, the founder and managing director of Greenzo Energy India, pledged his company’s commitment to invest in Nepal pending the necessary arrangements by the government.
During the meeting, Minister Basnet affirmed his intention to spearhead the formulation of policies conducive to green hydrogen initiatives and to establish a study committee to facilitate cooperation with Greenzo Energy India in implementing a pilot project. Discussions revolved around the advantages of green hydrogen for Nepal’s energy grid, with Minister Basnet highlighting the potential benefits of integrating fuel cell technology to enhance grid stability and power transmission quality.
Agarwal proposed green hydrogen as a viable third major energy source for Nepal and suggested an investment of 2 billion rupees in its development. He outlined how green hydrogen energy could supplement solar energy during peak demand periods and night time, thus ensuring grid reliability. Agarwal further revealed plans to invest over 2 trillion rupees in Nepal’s energy sector contingent upon clear hydrogen policy frameworks and purchase agreements.
Minister Basnet commended Greenzo Energy India’s innovative approach to addressing Nepal’s energy needs and expressed keen interest in the proposed collaboration.
