EDUCAST, In a meaningful initiative to promote environmental awareness and youth engagement, Avila University (USA) and INUNI, in collaboration with Holistic Development Nepal, conducted a Bagmati River Clean-Up Program today from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM as part of a Student Community Engagement activity.
Present at the event were Dr. Andrew Vogel, Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Vice President of Enrollment and Student Affairs at Avila University, Subas Thapa, U.S. Regional Director for South Asia at INUNI, and Sailesh Adhakari, Senior Vice President of Holistic Development Nepal. They actively participated alongside students and volunteers in cleaning the riverside area.
Speaking at the program, Dr. Vogel emphasized the importance of community involvement in education. “Student development is not just academic. Engaging in real-life community efforts like this develops leadership, environmental responsibility, and empathy,” he said.
Subas Thapa remarked, “This is a strong example of how global institutions like Avila University are committed to empowering students through civic engagement worldwide.”
Sailesh Adhakari shared his views on the environmental importance of the Bagmati clean-up campaign, adding, “Youth-led actions like this give hope for a cleaner, more responsible future.”
The clean-up campaign was widely appreciated by local residents and is expected to inspire similar community-driven projects in the future.
