EDUCAST, In the latest episode of Destination USA, we had the pleasure of hosting Monica, a representative from Avila University, to discuss the university’s global education approach, support for international students, and its expanding presence in emerging markets like Nepal. Here’s a detailed account of our insightful conversation.
Interviewer: Welcome, Monica! We’re thrilled to have you on Destination USA. To start, could you tell us about Avila University’s global education approach and how it ensures a high-quality experience for international students?
Monica: Thank you for having me ! Avila University is deeply committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for international students. We understand that their needs differ from domestic students, so we offer tailored services to help them adapt. For instance, we have various clubs and organizations, like the International Students Association, which helps students connect with peers who share similar experiences. Additionally, our faculty is always available for one-on-one sessions to address academic concerns. Our accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) further ensures the quality of education we provide.
Interviewer: That’s fantastic ! Speaking of recruitment, how does Avila University attract students from diverse regions like Nepal?
Monica: We recognize that financial accessibility is a major concern for many students. That’s why Avila offers generous scholarships—up to 63% for undergraduate programs and 23% for master’s degrees. These scholarships are guaranteed for the duration of the program, making it easier for students to plan their education. We also work closely with partners like GUS to bridge the gap between students and international education opportunities.
Interviewer: International students often face academic, cultural, and personal challenges. What specific initiatives does Avila University have to support them?
Monica: We have a robust support system in place. Our counseling services are available on campus to help students navigate personal challenges. We also have over 40 clubs and organizations, including the Student Government Association (SGA), which fosters a sense of community. For academic support, students can access resources like libraries and faculty office hours. We want every student to feel at home while pursuing their education.
Interviewer: That’s wonderful to hear. How about support for recruitment partners? What does GUS offer to help them in their efforts?
Monica: GUS provides a comprehensive platform called GUS Gateway, which includes tools like Marketing Hub. This allows partners to create customized marketing materials—brochures, landing pages, and campaigns—with just a few clicks. We also have a dedicated team that visits partners in Nepal to provide updates, training, and support. Our goal is to make the recruitment process as seamless as possible.
Interviewer: Career readiness is a top priority for international students. How does Avila University integrate industry connections and internships into its programs?
Monica: We believe in hands-on learning. Many of our departments offer on-campus work opportunities, such as in the library or business centers, giving students real-world experience. Our STEM programs, in particular, emphasize interactive learning through case studies, presentations, and business model development. These experiences prepare students for internships and job placements, enhancing their employability after graduation.
Interviewer: As the demand for international education grows, how is Avila University planning to expand its presence in emerging markets like Nepal?
Monica: We’re very serious about the Nepal market. In fact, we’ve already started our 2025 initiatives here. We’re visiting key partners, fostering new alliances, and supporting both large and small agencies. Education is a powerful tool for change, and we want to empower Nepalese students to gain global perspectives and bring those insights back to their communities. Stay tuned for exciting announcements about new partnerships!
Interviewer: Finally, what message would you like to share with prospective Nepalese students and their parents?
Monica: Studying abroad is a life-changing opportunity. At Avila University, you’ll not only receive a high-quality education but also build a global network that will shape your future. It’s a chance to grow personally and professionally while experiencing new cultures. I encourage students and parents to take this leap—it’s an investment in a brighter future.
Interviewer: Thank you, Monica, for sharing such valuable insights. We wish Avila University continued success in its mission to support international students.
Monica: Thank you for having me. It’s been a pleasure !
