EU Marks International Youth Day 2026 in Nepal with Focus on Innovation and Digital Empowerment

Kathmandu, 12 August 2026 – The Delegation of the European Union to Nepal celebrated International Youth Day 2026 at Hotel Malla, Kathmandu, organizing a full-day programme centered on opportunity, digital innovation, and youth leadership.

The event brought together over 1,500 participants and linked three major initiatives: the Erasmus Mundus Pre-Departure Orientation, EU Youth Fest 2026, and EU Youth Alumni Day. During the orientation, EU Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Véronique Lorenzo honored 42 Nepali students (22 women and 20 men) who secured the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarships to pursue higher education across Europe.

A key highlight was the launch of two new EU-funded grants worth EUR 1.91 million: CODE (Creating Opportunities for Youth in Digital Economy) and UDAAN (Unleashing Digital Acceleration and Ambition of Nepali Youth). These initiatives aim to boost digital skills, employability, and youth entrepreneurship across all seven provinces of Nepal.
