2nd Bob & Jang/Xavier Academy Conservation Award 2024: Recognizing Environmental Advocates and Conservation Insights

    EDUCAST, The 2nd Bob & Jang/Xavier Academy Conservation Award 2024 took place today, celebrating the dedication of individuals and groups in the conservation sector. Held at Xavier Academy, the event commenced at 10:50 AM and featured a series of musical performances, lectures, and the much-anticipated award announcements.

    The highlight of the event was the presentation of three major awards: the Bob & Jang/XA Conservation Award 2024, the Bob & Jang Female Scholarship (2017-2025), and the Bob & Jang Community-Based Project Award. The conservation award included a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 along with a citation, marking a significant contribution towards supporting environmental activism.

    Prominent environmentalists and scholars graced the occasion, including Prof. Dr. Pramod Shrestha, former chairperson of Xavier Academy, and Prof. Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, founding chairperson of Xavier Academy and Kathmandu Don Bosco College, who delivered key insights on the importance of conservation.

    Distinguished Lecture Series:

    As a special highlight, the event included the Distinguished Lecture Series by Mr. Arup Rajouria, founder and chairman of the Center for Conservation of Community and Environmental Welfare (CCCEW). His lecture focused on the critical importance of grassroots-level conservation efforts and community engagement in protecting Nepal’s biodiversity. Mr. Rajouria emphasized that sustainable development must be a key focus if Nepal is to preserve its rich environmental heritage.

    The event also saw distinguished musical performances by visually impaired artists, such as Arjun Paudel and Utsav Nepal, adding a special touch to the program.

    The keynote speaker, Mr. Bob Dobias, co-founder of the award, emphasized the need for continued efforts in environmental protection, particularly highlighting the critical role of youth and community-based projects in preserving Nepal’s rich biodiversity.

    The event concluded with a note of thanks by Mrs. Rashmi Sharma Mainali, Principal of Xavier Academy, followed by a high tea at the Amrapali Banquet.

    This event not only celebrated individuals but also raised awareness of the ongoing environmental challenges.
