EDUCAST, As Nepal continues to grapple with the severe impact of the Bhotekoshi floods, international solidarity and emergency assistance are stepping in to support local relief efforts.

Yesterday marked a significant milestone as the first assistance flight dispatched by Norway through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism landed in Nepal. The shipment—comprising vital medical consumables, technical equipment, and emergency energy supplies—was officially handed over to the Honourable Mahabir Pun by Isabelle D’Haudt, representing EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (EU ECHO).

This shipment forms part of a broader European relief effort. In response to the crisis, the European Union activated its emergency response framework and mobilized aid across multiple member and participating states. Additional emergency cargo flights carrying shelter materials, hygiene kits, and rescue equipment from participating nations—including Germany, Luxembourg, and Latvia—are expected to arrive in Nepal throughout the week to aid affected communities.

The official release highlights the close collaboration between the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kathmandu, EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, and Nepalese authorities in coordinating rapid crisis intervention.
