Madhyapur Festival 2081 Begins with Cultural Grandeur

    EDUCAST, The three-day Madhyapur Festival 2081 (Madhyapur Mahotsav 2081) commenced on Friday in the ancient and historic city of Madhyapur. Organized and sponsored by Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, the festival aims to establish Madhyapur as a new tourist destination and promote long-term economic prosperity for the city and its residents.

    According to the municipality, the festival highlights local art, culture, indigenous traditions, and cuisine, showcasing Madhyapur’s unique identity. It also provides insights into its historical jatras and festivals.

    The festival’s events span historical settlements, including Shankhadhar Chowk, Balkumari, Chapacho, Nagadesh, Bode, and Neel Barahi of Tigani. With 347 stalls, the festival features exhibitions of local arts, crafts, traditions, and handicrafts.

    Deputy Mayor Bijaya Krishna Shrestha extended a warm welcome to the attendees. Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh, the chief guest, inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional ‘panas.’ Bhaktapur District Chairman Durlav Thapa shared his best wishes and recalled the festival’s first edition 25 years ago, encouraging massive celebrations this time.

    Immediate past Mayor Madan Krishna Shrestha also conveyed his good wishes. Current Mayor Surendra Shrestha honored all guests with tokens of love and expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making the festival a success. The program was conducted by municipal spokesperson Krishna Hari Acharya.
