Fundraising Campaign Launched to Repatriate Body of Nepalese Student Ekendra Oli from South Korea

EDUCAST, In a compassionate response to a heartbreaking tragedy abroad, the Nepal Educational Counseling Services Association (NECSA) has initiated a fundraising drive to bring back the mortal remains of Ekendra Oli, a Nepalese undergraduate student who recently passed away in South Korea. Oli, a native of Babai Rural Municipality–4 in Dang district, was pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Kangwon National University when he met with an untimely death on September 22, 2026.

According to updates shared by NECSA, the complete logistical and administrative process—encompassing local mortuary fees, legal paperwork, body preservation, and international transportation back home to Nepal—is estimated to cost approximately 14 million South Korean Won (KRW). Recognizing that this substantial expense poses an overwhelming financial burden on the bereaved family in Dang, the association stepped in to organize collective support across the community.

NECSA President Santosh Khanal has issued an earnest public appeal to relatives, friends, business associates, and the broader Nepalese diaspora to contribute generously toward the cause. Beyond monetary donations, the association is urging community members to share the message across their networks to maximize reach and help ease the family’s grief during this difficult period.

To streamline the collection process, NECSA has set up dedicated banking and digital payment channels. Well-wishers can deposit their voluntary contributions directly into the organization’s account at Sanima Bank (Pulchowk Branch) or send funds digitally via the FonePay network.
