China Foundation Accelerates Flood Relief Efforts in Rasuwa and Nuwakot

EDUCAST, Relief operations have intensified in central Nepal as humanitarian organizations continue to extend critical assistance to communities hit hard by the devastating August 26 flash floods. Leading ground-level distribution, the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) has deployed specialized teams to deliver immediate relief packages across affected settlements in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts.

Relief consignments are currently being distributed directly to flood survivors in Kalika Rural Municipality (Rasuwa) and Bidur Municipality (Nuwakot). Foundation officials highlighted that field efforts are explicitly targeting health and nutrition to prevent secondary crises such as disease outbreaks and malnutrition, recognizing that full rehabilitation for displaced families will be a complex and lengthy process.The relief package includes standard food baskets (rice, cooking oil, lentils, and essential staples), basic hygiene and health items, and emergency livelihood kits.

Additionally, to address widespread power outages caused by damaged energy infrastructure along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river corridors, the foundation has distributed 449 solar lamps to ensure off-grid lighting for affected households. CFRD field teams are coordinating closely with Nepal’s local government disaster management units to navigate damaged transport links and sustain aid flow to the most remote, hard-to-reach pockets. Foundation representatives reaffirmed their commitment to staying on the ground and adjusting relief assistance as the long-term needs of flood survivors evolve.
