EDUCAST, The Australian Government has announced an additional $3 million in humanitarian assistance for response and recovery efforts following the catastrophic flash floods and debris flows along the Nepal-China border. This second tranche brings Australia’s total humanitarian commitment for this disaster to $8 million.Consular & Rescue Response: 42 Australian nationals remain unaccounted for. A team of 12 Australian crisis response personnel—including consular officers and Australian Federal Police—is operating in Kathmandu to support search, recovery, and victim assistance.

Relief Deliveries: Responding to requests from the Government of Nepal, Australia is providing $2 million in emergency supplies, including solar lighting and hygiene kits, transported directly via Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) flights from Queensland. Public NGO Support: Following a strong response from the Australian public—generating $1.4 million in donations for the Emergency Action Alliance (EAA) appeal—the Australian Government is adding $1 million to match public efforts, bringing total government EAA support to $2 million.
