Bangladesh Offers Support to Flood-Hit Nepal; No Bangladeshi Casualties Reported

KATHMANDU / DHAKA — The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, in close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, is actively monitoring developments and assessing the situation following the recent devastating floods and landslides. According to official embassy sources, no Bangladeshi nationals have been reported dead or injured in the disaster.

While a few Bangladeshi citizens were temporarily stranded on the Kathmandu-Pokhara highway due to road blockages, they have since safely cleared the route and reached their respective destinations. In the wake of the tragedy, Bangladesh has expressed deep solidarity with the government and resilient citizens of Nepal.

The embassy conveyed a personal message of condolence and support from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, reaffirming Dhaka’s readiness to provide any required assistance, including relief materials and emergency support.

Underlining the strong bilateral ties between the two nations, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Khalilur Rahman held a telephone conversation with his Nepalese counterpart, Mr. Shisir Khanal. During the call, Minister Rahman extended his heartfelt sympathies, while Minister Khanal expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s gesture of goodwill and solidarity during this challenging period.
