EDUCAST- The Free educational consultancies’ organization, Nepal (FECON) has scheduled election for its upcoming convention on 8th July. The current Senior Vice President Prajwal Basnet and General Secretary Raju Niroula have formed separate panels to compete in election. Vice President Basnet and Secretary Niroula formally announced their nominations by forming panels on Tuesday.
Basnet, who has played a significant role in shaping FECON since its inception, is familiar to all members, including the Ministry of Education and other related agencies. He is familiar for his efforts to establish discipline and order in the advisory profession. Basnet’s panel includes Hemant Raj Dulal, Arjun Kumar Basnet, and Gagan Bista as Vic-President candidates.
The panel of Basnet consists of Krishna Bhattarai, Madan Upreti, Resham Bhattarai, Nirajan Siwakoti, Prajwal Khatri, Naresh Sedai, and Santosh Basnet as Executive Members. Basnet has announced his candidacy with the current Treasurer Anil Sharma, Amit Khadka, R.C. K.C., Deepa Lamichhane, and Rajesh K.C. who have declared their nominations for the positions of General Secretary, Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer, and Joint Treasurer respectively.
Amit Babu Dhungana, the current Deputy Secretary , Umesha Kushwaha and Deepak Silwal have announced their nominations as Vic- President candidates following panel of Niroula. Chhabindra Ojha, Prithvi Bahadur Chand, Indrajit Gautam,Dipendra Pokhrel,Gautam Pudasaini have declared their candidacies for General Secretary, Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer, and Joint Treasurer respectively. Similarly, Rosan Kharel, Sanjay Basnet, Khagendra Shrestha, Eliza Upreti,Manesh Hamal, Rajkumar Dhakal and Maniu Lamichhane have announced their candidacies as Executive members. Two more members are yet to be finalized.
Regarding the attempt to reach a consensus, Umesh Kushwaha, who lost the bid for Deputy Secretary due to the unsuccessful consensus, stated, “Despite efforts to reach a consensus in the panel, it was not successful. Now, the new leadership will be chosen through the election.”
In the previous convention also, there was competition between two panels. Basnet had previously served as the Vice President and Senior Vice President of FECON. Niroula had elected as Secretary and General Secretary of FECON during his tenure. Apart from the two panels, the current working committee members Reshma Rajthala and Sudeep Pokharel announced their candidacies for Vice President and Secretary, respectively.
Yubaraj Katuwal, the former President of FECON, has expressed his support for the presidential candidate Niroula, while the current President Bashu Dev Nepal has been seen supporting the Basnet panel. According to FECON’s constitution, the election will choose the President, three Vice Presidents, General Secretary, two Secretaries, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, and seven members through voting, while two members will be appointed to form an 18-members new working committee.
